BECOME A MASTER PRINTMAKER
I’ve loved printmaking my whole life. From the age of four, I was fascinated by paper and printed material. By seven, I was drawing with India inks and fancy pens, and I even re-created the Declaration of Independence—dying the paper with tea, tearing the edges, and mimicking the script.
Art wasn’t encouraged in my family—my parents were engineers—so I took a detour into science and eventually ended up in the corporate world. For a time, I even handled hazardous waste in yellow Tyvek suits and full-face respirators. One wrong move could have been deadly!
Still, art kept calling. On weekends in NYC, I took printmaking courses—letterpress, silk screening, woodcut, block printing—and started a side hustle turning my sketches into table linens and tea towels. Slowly, that weekend passion became my full-time career.
A lifelong Passion
Printmaking is a craft that has fascinated people for thousands of years—from ancient Chinese woodblocks in 700 AD, to Gutenberg's printing press in 1440, to the art we create today.
I’ve been lucky to turn that fascination into a lifelong journey. Along the way, I learned to bring my prints into Adobe Illustrator and transform them into repeating designs for fabric, wallpaper, and other products. I also had the privilege of studying under some of the best printers in the U.S., including faculty at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan—a place where I still continue to learn today.
Why Printmaking matters
Becoming a skilled printmaker is possible for anyone. All it takes is practice, patience, and a love of working with your hands.
In a digital, doomscrolling world, printmaking lets you step away from the noise and find real contentment. It’s forgiving—you don’t have to be Monet or Rembrandt. Just be yourself.
Your Journey Starts Here
I would be honored to guide you as you explore this timeless craft. If I could go from hazardous waste removal to full-time artist and craftsperson, so can you.
